Pagero's solutions do not change existing invoicing but significantly improve it by reducing unnecessary manual work. This increases efficiency, control and security, shortens credit periods and reduces environmental impact. Customers can access the global Pagero Online business network for simple, secure and cost-efficient communication between small, medium-sized and large companies and organisations with a local or global presence.
What is an e-invoice?
Because e-invoices are defined in different ways, Pagero considers it important to clarify what it means by a genuine e-invoice. Pagero defines it as an invoice issued, received and processed electronically. It is digital from creation in the issuer's ERP system through to receipt and processing by the recipient, and therefore electronic throughout its lifetime.
Some companies email a PDF copy of the invoice. This copy can be scanned or printed before being entered in the ledger. Pagero offers emailing PDF invoices as an additional service, but we recommend sending and receiving genuine e-invoices for several reasons:
- High automation is easier to achieve with genuine e-invoices than PDF invoices.
- The sender receives no automatic confirmation that the PDF invoice reached the recipient.
- PDF invoices may be caught in the recipient's spam filter.
- Several larger companies do not accept PDF invoices by email.
- The recipient must invest in a scanning solution to interpret PDF invoices automatically.
- Scanning interprets considerably less information (fewer fields) than a fully electronic invoice.
- Studies show that the probability of a scanned invoice being interpreted entirely without errors is only 34.7% (source: Basware), requiring time-consuming error handling.
