ERP implementation

Implementing an ERP system is not so much about technology or IT as it is about analyzing, understanding and developing business processes. It is also a project that directly or indirectly affects the entire company, its departments and employees.

A new ERP implementation project involves planning, configuring and introducing a system to manage business processes in areas such as finance, inventory, orders and manufacturing.

Successful ERP implementation requires a clear project plan, integrations with other systems such as CRM, WMS or e-commerce, and organizational change management.

This page explains how a new ERP implementation works, common mistakes and how companies can carry out the project efficiently.

ERP implementation project model

Here is an overview of the model Systemstöd uses when implementing a new ERP system. Developed and continually refined over time, it addresses different situations and roles with supporting templates and materials. It supports a consistent way of working and the ongoing reuse of knowledge and experience.

Analysis and preliminary study

– In this phase, your desired business processes are mapped to the new ERP system, and gaps can be defined and documented.
– Any supplementary functionality, such as customizations and integrations with other systems, is documented.
– The project's requirements for data migration and conversion from existing systems are documented.
– Together, we establish the project schedule, its activities, scope and solution.
– The analysis can range from an extensive preliminary study of the entire business and its processes to an analysis of one specific process.

Implementation

– This phase starts with technical installation and setup of the new ERP system on your IT platform or with external cloud hosting.
– We configure the ERP modules you will use based on the preliminary study and analysis.
– Your key users receive training in the new ERP system, from the basics to specific modules for particular areas of work
– Data and information are mapped and migrated from the existing ERP system to the new one.
– Any customizations and integrations are developed and tested.
– Test protocols are prepared ahead of testing the new ERP system
– You test the new ERP system across the business processes and functions that will go live.
– We document the ERP solution, its functions and processes
