3PL – third-party logistics

Interest in 3PL, third-party logistics, has grown strongly in recent years and become an important part of logistics. Different terms are used, such as 3PL, third-party logistics or TPL, but the meaning is the same: an item or goods owner outsources all or part of its logistics to a third party that handles and coordinates all goods distribution. A company can therefore use a third-party logistics provider to outsource all or part of its logistics, resulting in greater focus on its core business.

Based on our extensive experience implementing third-party logistics systems, we have developed an industry solution and package for 3PL.

ERP system for 3PL

Companies providing 3PL logistics services place high demands on the flexibility and adaptability of the ERP system supporting their logistics flows and processes. Flows and routines must adapt to new wishes and requirements from new and existing customers. The ERP system must also exchange information digitally (EDI, XML or other formats) with different parties in the logistics chain.

Besides electronic integration and high automation requirements, easy access is needed to information such as stock balances and purchasing and delivery planning lists, along with simple customer order handling and purchasing support.
