Pagero's e-invoice solution for digital customer invoicing does not change the existing invoicing process in your ERP system. It significantly improves it by reducing unnecessary manual work, increasing efficiency, control and security, shortening credit periods and reducing environmental impact.

What is an e-invoice?

Because e-invoices are defined in different ways, it is important to clarify what a genuine e-invoice means. Pagero defines it as an invoice issued, received and processed electronically. It is digital from its creation in the issuer's ERP system through to receipt and processing by the recipient. A genuine e-invoice is therefore electronic throughout its lifetime.

Some companies email a PDF copy of the invoice. This copy can be scanned or printed before being entered in the ledger. Pagero offers emailing PDF invoices as an additional service, but we recommend sending and receiving genuine e-invoices for several reasons:

– Greater automation with e-invoices than PDF invoices
– No automatic confirmation that the PDF invoice has arrived
– PDF invoices may be caught in the recipient's spam filter
– Many companies do not accept PDF invoices by email
– Investment in a scanning solution to interpret PDF invoices automatically
– Less information is interpreted by scanning than with a fully electronic invoice
– The probability of a scanned invoice being interpreted entirely without errors is only 34.7%, requiring time-consuming error handling (source: Basware)
